Jensen Woods Camp and the Jensen Camp Foundation are committed to welcoming all children and youth at camp. We understand that some families may face financial barriers to sending their children to camp.
We offer two types of scholarships:
For children with medical cards or who receive SNAP or TANF benefits, we partner with the American Camping Association and the state of Illinois Title XX program to offer one free week of camp. If your child qualifies for this, we will ask you to sign a form at registration that certifies that they are eligible. Parents are responsible for optional extras such as canteen and T shirts. Contact the camp for the registration code to use when registering your child
For families that need help but do not qualify for the ACA scholarship, we still can help! Here are the steps:
1) Contact your church to see if they are willing to provide a campership (most churches are!)
2) Contact us to share how much you need in addition to what your church can offer.
3) Volunteer-with your camper-at one of our events. Spring events include the Spring Fling, the Dogwood Parade, and work days at camp. You can contact us to let us know how you want to volunteer. If you know your child will come next year, we have late summer and fall volunteer opportunities as well; parades, fair booths, work days and Soup in the Woods.
4) After camp, have your camper write a thank you to our donors. Our donors want to know what your child loved about camp and how it helped them grow closer to God. We’ll share these letters (with names omitted) with the folks who make it possible for us to offer scholarships.
